COVID VACCINATIONS AT TANYFRON

UPDATE - 16 January 2021

We in Tanyfron Primary Care are currently preparing for COVID vaccinations and staff are undergoing additional training. An order has been placed for the first batch of the AstraZeneca vaccines and we are awaiting delivery. We are confident therefore that we can start vaccinating within the next 1-2 weeks.

Unfortunately, as there is a cap on the amount of vaccines we can order, we will have very limited stock initially. We have been told however, that these vaccine order numbers will be increasing weekly.  Please be patient with us while we work with the health board to deliver this first phase of the public vaccination programme.

Priority for vaccination has been given to the following group of patients:

1. Residents in a care home for older adults and their carers.
2. All those 80 years of age and over and frontline health and social care workers.

As soon as we have received delivery and clinic dates are in place, we will contact our patients who are 80 years and over to book an appointment.

Patients may wish to have a conversation with family members in advance of our telephone call to discuss the vaccine. We may also telephone at short notice to attend an appointment, so please ensure travel arrangements, if needed, have been agreed with family/friends beforehand.

The COVID vaccination clinics will be run similar to our recent flu vaccination clinics and these will be held at Aberaeron Rugby Club (many thanks to them for allowing us to use their facilities).

All patients need to please bear in mind that due to GP and Nurse appointments being allocated to COVID vaccination clinics, availability of routine appointments will be affected. Priority will therefore be given to urgent problems and COVID vaccinations for the foreseeable future.

We are excited to be to be receiving COVID vaccines and in the coming months, we will ensure that every patient eligible is vaccinated (in priority group order) as soon as is possible.

In the meantime, please continue to stay at home whenever possible, respect social distancing at all times, wear a face mask in public places (if able) and wash your hands regularly.
