When We Are Closed

If you have an urgent medical problem when the surgery is closed and you do not think this can wait, you can telephone the Surgery number 01545 570 271 and you will be automatically transferred to the out-of-hours telephone number:  111.

The out-of-hours service doctors and nurses have a wide experience in general practice but their role is only to deal with immediate, urgent medical problems.  If you need to be seen, you will be asked to attend a Primary Care Out-of-Hours Centre, or be given appropriate advice over the telephone. This is to enable efficient use of resources and is in line with the National Health Service policy on out of hours care.

Tanyfron Surgery is informed the following morning of any medication or treatment provided by the Out of Hours Service.

Alternatives to A&E

Choose Well

If you are thinking of attending A&E please be aware that during surgery hours you can obtain advice from our doctors and nurses and we will do our best to see you as soon as possible.

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens. Visit the Choose Well website for further information.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and/or shortness of breath would constitute an emergency.
